DESIGNED IN THE CARIBBEAN AND MADE IN EUROPE
The Jean Girigori by IAL Design collection is a collaboration completely created and designed in the Caribbean and sensual artistic vision of world-renowned artist Jean Girigori. She painted five paintings in her atelier in Curaçao specifically for this partnership.
Her painting style is embedded in powerful creole femininity, local cultural diversity, afro mysticism and the powerful Caribbean blue sea. Her works have been exhibited all over the world from established galleries in Paris, Cuba, Amsterdam and New York.
She was born on the 14th of January 1948 on a boat in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. This was a powerful symbolic indication that her life would be devoted to celebrating the splendor of the islands. Her paintings, though colorful, are in essence a protest on canvas. Her work can be considered a fierce outcry against the deprivation and abuse to which the people and particularly the children of the Caribbean have historically been subjected to.
The Jean Girigori by IAL Design collection is a large beach towel compendium of five colorful designs that represent her passionate artistic vision of the natural beauty of the Carribean Sea and life on the islands.
Deep and light blue hues represent the strong and nurturing power of the ocean, while bright yellows and intense reds signify the fiery passion and love for life of the people.

Jean Girigori used bright reds, vibrant yellows and strong brush strokes. The golden orange fish in the middle symbolizes a woman different from the group while she has her grand entrance at a party. The group looks at her and gossips about her. But she doesn’t care because she is a strong, brave and beautiful individual. This is a typical scene in Caribbean societies where individuality is not always celebrated and encouraged. This design also represents the breathtaking Caribbean sunset.
